Student Led Conference Reflection

The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were: sharing my learning and getting feedback on how to improve a piece of writing.

What went well and why? Sharing my maths because my parent were proud of what I have achieved so far this year.

What were the challenges you faced when preparing and presenting your SLC? My parents couldn't read the words properly on my asttle test results because the words were blurry.

What changes would you make for next time and why? I would link my asttle test results so I wouldn't have to have a screen shot of it.

Technology - Excellence post 18

Today I went to technology and we filled out a sheet on the design process and what we are going to make. We also got into pairs, I was with Charlotte and we did a kahoot about winter because the things we are making are themed on winter. After we did that we made our prototype on the thing we are going to be making for the next couple of weeks. While I was there I showed the learner quality of communicate by talking with Charlotte about what our answer is for kahoot and I showed leadership by helping Amelia hand sew the end of her prototype.

Kapahaka - Excellence post 17

Today I had kapahaka. First we practised hehonore then taitapu and what we are going to be doing on the open night. Then we did pa mai quite a few times until everyone could do the actions after that we went through our whole performance for the cultural festival. I showed the learner quality of self awareness by getting there on time and I showed leadership by doing my part the best that I could.

Yesterday Maddy and I set up some skipping ropes for the kakano children to use in the second half of lunch and we got a big skipping rope and held it at either end for them to jump in. At the start we only set up about 15 skipping ropes then load of kakano kids came along to join in and we had to get out more. While I was doing this I showed the learner quality of communicate by when the little kids line got too close to the big skipping rope I asked them to move back a little bit so they didn't get hurt and I showed leadership by demonstrating for a couple of little kids how to skip with a skipping rope.

Technology - Excellence post 15

On Tuesday I went to technology. I am in the design class and in the morning the design and textiles class watched a slide put together by the teachers to teach us about the design process. In the slide was, the steps in the design process and design fails which we had to explain were in the design process the person went wrong when making that product. We also talked about stakeholders and what they do. Then we partnered up and pretended they were our stakeholder and they were giving us answers to the questions we asked about the product and what they want it to look and be like. We got to chose out of a bed, shoe or bag then we had to make a prototype of the thing our partner designed when they were a stakeholder. While I was there I showed the learner quality of active thinker by asking my stakeholder l which was Charlotte lots of good questions to help me find out exactly how they want the design to be of the product and I showed leadership by helping Charlotte find a material to make her prototype.

PALs - Excellence post 14

On Thursday Maddy and I reffed and ran a game of soccer for the kakano students. First we sorted them out into even teams then we started the game. One of the teams wasn't doing as well as the other one so we encouraged them to play harder. While I was doing this I showed the learner quality of self awareness by showing up to my duty on time and I showed leadership by encouraging the kakano kids.

Kapahaka - Excellence post 13

On Friday we had kapahaka it was way longer than usual because we had it for the whole first block and since Matua Rihari runs kapahaka we didn't have Te Reo that morning. First we ran through taitapu a couple of times than we practised the transitions in between each song. Once we went through that quite a few times we split into groups to practise our poi, long poi and rakau. I showed the learner quality of communicate by asking Amelia nicely to move forward during poi when I didn't have enough room and I showed leadership by making sure I was always where I was supposed to be during our transitions.

Today Maddy and I had kakano PALs and we played knock over the cones, tricky tag, sneak up granny and what's the time Mr wolf. At the start we ran knock over the cones then they started suggesting games for us to run and we played them. I showed the learner quality of communicate by letting them have a say in what game we ran and I showed leadership by being a good example when their was uneven teams and I had to play, by playing by the rules and encouraging others.

PALs - Excellence post 10

On Thursday Sophie and I ran hoola- hoops and mini beanbags for the kakano students. For the first ten minutes the kids were having fun so Sophie and I only needed to help with making sure they all got a turn with the hoola-hoops and mini bean bags then one kid asked if we could run some games with them. So we ran who can hoola-hoop for the longest and then rob the nest with the kids that wanted to. I showed the learner quality of communication by making sure someone could run it with me since Maddy was away and I showed leadership by handing out pozi's for kids that were sharing well, participating well and trying their best.
