Leadership - Merit post 6

On Tuesday Charlotte, Nicholas and I got emailed the topics we needed to talk about during our speech in the run, bike, run. That same day we wrote our speeches and sorted out who was going to say what . We also rehearsed them lots so we new them off by heart. Since Josh was at the garden show and wouldn't be able to be at the run bike run he wasn't involved in this. On Wednesday day we performed our speeches in front of the kauri team at West lake park they went well. I showed the care value of active thinking by keeping in mind all the year levels when writing my speech.

Kapahaka - Merit post 5

On Friday I had kapahaka. I had cultural club right before I had kapahka so went straight from the library to the hall. Once I got to the hall I took my shoes off and went and sat in my line. We sang ka waitata a couple of times with the younger kids doing the echo than we continued  learning aotearoa from last week. After that we practised erere taku manu a couple of times then it was morning tea time.
I showed the care value of respect by sitting in my line and talking quietly until matoa Rihari wanted our attention.

Leadership meeting - Merit post 4

On Monday we had a leadership meeting before morning tea. The first thing we did was talk about what we were doing this term, this term Charlotte, Josh, Nichols and I are building on what Hannah and some other student leaders did on bullying last year. The first thing we need to do is organise a meeting with Mrs Trotter and Mrs Martin. We have already emailed them so we are just waiting to find out when we are going to meet with them. Finally we talked about what the other leaders are doing .
I showed respect by sitting and listening quietly when the conversation had nothing to do with me.

Kapahaka - Merit post 3

On Friday it was the first kapahaka session for 2017. We all took our shoes off and waited in the foyer for cultural club to finish than we entered the hall. First Mr Brown talked to us about what's happening throughout the year. Than we split so that the people that wanted to be in the performance group were on one side of the hall and the people that wanted to be in the nonperformance group were on the other side.
After that Mrs Baker and Mr Brown put us into lines I am in the second row in the middle. Then we sang taitapu and ka waiata so Mrs Baker, Mr Brown and Matua Rihari could see how we sound as a group.
I showed the care value of excellence by trying my best when singing tai tapu and ka waiata.

Home Learning Challenge - Merit post 2

Improve your fitness over 4 weeks: walk 60 kilometres or cycle 100 kilometres or swim 1 kilometre.
I chose walk 60 kilometres.
I tracked how far I had walked each day on my fitbit.
After four weeks I had walked 287 kilometres total.
Here is a link to the doc where I recorded how many kilometres I had walked that day.

Leadership meeting - Merit post 1

Today we had a leadership meeting with all of the student leaders. We first watched a video that was made by grip leadership on ways that we can improve our school as a student leader. The 5 things thy suggested we could do was mentoring, creating school culture, reduce bullying, increase house pride and creating activity. Then we went away with the other people with our leadership role and discussed a big thing that we are going to do this year.
I showed the care value of respect by communicating and brainstorming ides with Josh and Charlotte.
